Excellent graphic designs and websites often starts with some really good photographs. Photoshop can work "miracles," bringing out the best in a photo, but nothing beats a good photo to begin with!

There are several options to acquire the images, including:

  1. Hiring a professional photographer
  2. Purchasing the photo(s) online
  3. Taking the images yourself
  4. Letting us take the photos for you
rule

Whether purchasing an image or taking the photo yourself, adequate image resolution the fineness or coarseness of an image resolution for the project is needed: 300px per inch for commercial-quality printing, and 72px per inch for websites.

For example, a photo that you want to fill up the entire front of a printed 9" by 12" presentation folder should have a minimum resolution of 2700px by 3600px, whereas the same image on a website need only be 648px by 864px.

— Hiring a Professional Photographer —

In some circumstances, nothing beats hiring a competent, professional photographer. If you need product photography, especially if the photos are of food, I would highly recommend the services of a trained professional photographer with the correct equipment and skills.

— Purchasing the Photos Online —

There are numerous sources of stock-photography on the internet that offer quality images at an inexpensive price. Two that I often use are iStock Photo and BigStock Photo. iStock Photo also offers Flash files and vector art illustrations in addition to inexpensive photos.

If you are thinking about hiring Graphic Connection, you might want to contact us before purchasing any stock photos. We have an extensive library of stock photography, and may already own an image you are interested in.

— Taking Your Own Photos —

If you have a camera of sufficient pixel resolution, and a knack for taking good images, you can always take your own photos. Any imperfections can usually be corrected in Photoshop in a short amount of time.

— We Can Take the Photos for You —

If your company is in the Kansas City metropolitan area, I can make arrangements for a photo shoot and take the photos for you. Armed with my tripod and extra wide-angle and telephoto lenses, I have been hired for photo shoots throughout the Kansas City area. Many of the graphic design samples in my portfolio also include images that I took for the client.

My presentations folders page contains some examples of photos I took for two different clients on the Country Club Plaza in Kansas City, Missouri. Your can view these samples by clicking here.
