Standard envelopes are available pre-made in a multitude of different sizes, shapes, colors and types of paper. Non-stock envelopes can be custom-made to meet specific requirements, although they are expensive in small quantities.
Business & Correspondence Envelopes

#10 Envelope The most popular business envelope in the USA is the standard #10 Envelope. With options such as Square Flap, Policy and commercial flap - it has become popular for both commercial and social designs. The #10 envelope that has a square flap can create a unique look to the "so called" common envelope.
Office / Commercial envelopes, are widely used for a variety of business and personal correspondence. Commercial and Side Seam flap styles are ideal for machine insertion. Wallet flaps provide a large area ideal for imprinting. Square flaps are contemporary, but are not recommended for machine insertion.
Standard Window Envelopes
The standard window (a left-hand window) size and position is the same for all commercial window envelopes, regardless of the size of the envelope. It measures 4.5" wide and 1.125" deep. It is positioned 0.875" from the left side of the envelope and 0.5" from the bottom of the envelope.

Booklet Envelopes
Booklet envelopes are constructed with a side seam and open on the top (the longest way) of the envelope dimensions, making them suitable for automatic insertion machines and ideal for volume mailing.

Catalog envelopes are constructed with a center seam making them more durable for mailing heavy-weight materials.

Baronial Envelopes
Baronial envelopes, traditionally used for formal business announcements, invitations & greeting cards, are constructed with a deep pointed flap and diagonal seams. Baronial envelopes are not recommended for machine insertion.

Square Envelopes
Square envelopes are used primarily with announcements, advertising, and specialty greeting cards or other mailings where the sender wants to draw attention to the contents.
