Color Essentials 101
Monitor Color, Color Perception & Ink Colors
Many talented designers make costly mistakes due to a lack of understanding of some basic concepts concerning color. Three categories of color are covered here:
- Monitor Calibration - unless your monitor has been calibrated for color accuracy, you can't really trust the images that it displays as being true to reality. Making color adjustments to an image can do more harm than good.
Read more about monitor calibration. - Color Gamma - there are Color space a system for describing color numerically to determine a color range variations that need to be understood. The RGB color space of your monitor is much larger than the CMKY and PMS ink colors a commercial printer uses.
